SCI AmeriCorps Fellows gain professional nonprofit experience as well as: leadership training program through SCI, access to college / graduate credit through an exclusive partnership with Merrimack College, and earn federal dollars towards higher education. SCI AmeriCorps is seeking candidates to fill positions for a 1700-hour service term (approximately 40 hours/week) from September 2024 through June 2025. Fellow Stipend Benefit Options (A or B) A. Receive a Taxable Stipend of $2,500 / month, paid bi-weekly (max stipend value = $25,000 per year). B. Receive a Taxable Stipend of $1,600 / month, paid bi-weekly, with Housing Placement & Homestay Benefit [$900 / month] provided by StudentRoomStay (max stipend value = $25,000 year). Fellow Program Benefits - Earn a Federal Education Award worth up to $7,395 upon successful completion of service - May receive Student Loan Forbearance during active service - Full Healthcare (medical, dental) provided by SCI AmeriCorps - $90 / month Transportation Stipend during your service term provided by SCI AmeriCorps - SCI Developing Leaders Program – receive badges of completion for 50+ hours of comprehensive career development in partnership with Merrimack College - Access to Merrimack College campus resources via Merrimack Student ID - Free Enrollment in a Community Engagement course taught by Merrimack College faculty with the option to receive undergraduate or graduate academic credit. - Essential Requirements - Commit to full term-of-service in local communities with diverse residents - Serve in-person for some or all service activities - Participate fully in all SCI AmeriCorps orientations, trainings, surveys and evaluations - Complete a Social Capital Youth Project for host site partner youth enrichment programming - Must be at least 18 years of age at time of enrollment.
Member Duties : At East Boston Social Centers, the SCI AmeriCorps Fellow core service activities will be: -Collaborate with the Teen Director and staff to develop & execute a volunteer engagement/management plan including community service-learning opportunities that support youth & teen programming. -Manage the weekly Pillars of S.T.E.A.M. program for 10-14 year old youth, including leading enrichment activities, homework support, and exploration of S.T.E.A.M. careers to foster growth and exploration. -Assist in daily implementation and organization of program activities, lesson plans, and providing academic support for youth including curriculum refinement and curriculum evaluation implementation. -Service Schedule: Monday through Thursday 9:30am to 5:30pm.
