Job Description

The Trust Operations Associate coordinates trust operations activities, maintains reconcilement reports to meet audit standards and provides operational support to the Trust Division.


Position Accountabilities

  • Serves as back-office support for the Trust Department, while providing superior customer service to internal Teammates.
  • Primary responsibilities on a daily basis include settlement with the Trust vendor, reconcilement of DDAs, printing Trust checks and reports, review and reconcilement of several Trust generated reports, and posting Trust transactions.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Performs periodic account, asset, temporary vault, and other asset location audits.
  • Performs regulatory and compliance reporting and other tasks on a monthly/quarterly, semi-annual and annual basis.
  • Monitors and reports overdrafts.
  • Reconciles and resolves internal control accounts.
  • Processes and manages Trust and Financial Advisor fees.
  • Reconciles outstanding checks and escheats aged items to the State of Virginia.
  • Researches un-priced assets.
  • Researches and resolves reconcilement exceptions.
  • Maintains internal TrustDesk and client web (Client Point) user access to the Trust systems.
  • Perform various administrative duties including preparing correspondence, scanning documents, filing, typing, distributing mail and faxes.
  • Perform special projects as needed.
  • Maintain files, logs and databases, ensuring that information is complete and accurate.
  • Acts as back-up for the Support Services Manager in his/her absence.
  • Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations governing bank operations, including compliance with Atlantic Union Bankshares’ BSA/AML Policy and Procedures.

Organizational Relationship

This position reports to the Support Services Manager.


Position Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Two to five years of experience in trust operations, brokerage, or investments.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of trust accounting systems and securities processing.
  • Working knowledge of bookkeeping, and general accounting.
  • High degree of professionalism.
  • Proficient computer skills relevant to Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Flexible, able to adapt to change.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet daily deadlines.
  • Attention to detail.

Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
