The Induction role within the Distribution Center (“DC”) at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) is responsible for placing cases of merchandise on the conveyor and induction systems while ensuring that store labels are properly applied and positioned on the boxes. This role will safely take cases from built pallets or will pull cases directly from floor loaded trailers manually.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Accurately complete and submit daily productivity sheets.
• Place individual cases on a conveyor belt or induction line.
• Apply labels to the cases, ensuring the cartons can be read via the conveyor system.
• Load and unload freight onto the conveyor in an efficient and safe manner.
• Sort and stack pallets and cartons based on order of work.
• Consolidate merchandise in an accurate and safe manner.
• Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean work area to meet or exceed area safety, quality, and productivity standards.
• Prepare pallets for induction by slicing the shrink wrap and discarding waste.
• Maintain compliance with standard operating procedures and OSHA standards.
• Operate a hand jack or power equipment to move pallets, if necessary, once certified.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to pass a basic math test.
• English speaking, reading, and comprehension skills; bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
• Ability to learn to use a radio frequency scanner.
• Ability to operate powered industrial equipment and obtain any applicable license.
• Ability to meet area productivity, quality, safety, housekeeping, and attendance standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• The DC warehouse environment is characterized by temperature extremes, noise, movement of conveyors and equipment, and other conditions associated with the operation of a high volume distribution center.
• Should be able to lift and move 50 lbs of material on a regular basis.
• Should be able to bend, lift, stretch, and reach both below the waist and above the head.
• Works primarily in a DC environment. Must be able to remain stationary and/or continually move for up to 10 - 12 hours per day.
