Reports to: Director of Housing
Courage House is a QRTP (Qualified Residential Treatment Program) certified group home. The Resident Care Worker is responsible for directly supervising residents to ensure safety, executing program responsibilities, and implementing day to day activities that model healthy life skills. We are looking for individuals with strong interpersonal skills who are dedicated to positively impacting the lives of LGBTQ+ youth in out-of-home care, including those in foster care, juvenile delinquency situations, and other CHIPS and JIPS orders. These young individuals are navigating complex trauma and mental health challenges and Courage MKE is committed to operating through trauma informed care.
This is a non-exempt, full or part-time position for 1st, 2nd, and/or 3rd shifts. We operate staffed 24/7, therefore weekend availability is a must unless specified otherwise at the time of hire.
Essential Functions:
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree (in the fields of Social Work, Sociology, Special Education, Psychology, Counseling and Guidance or Criminal Justice) or two years experience preferred. Previous experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals with a demonstrated competency of meeting the LGBTQ+ community’s needs, preferred but not required.
Must be at least 21 years of age. First Aid and CPR training preferred, required within six months of hire. Capable of transporting youth and possession of a valid driver’s license preferred. Background check and TB test required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to sitting, walking, and standing for prolonged periods; frequently pushes, pulls, grasps, kneels, crouches, or crawls. The employee frequently is required to use manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination when working with persons served and handling office, medical, or household equipment. The employee is subject to assist and lifts up to 50 pounds with varying amounts of assistance on a recurring basis. The employee is required to have corrected vision and hearing within normal range and the ability to operate a motor vehicle. Must have the ability to perform CPR. Occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious substances, including communicable diseases when performing personal care. Occasional exposure to cleaning agents and disinfectants. Residential work environment with a noise level of normal to loud. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform successfully the essential functions of this job. Compensation:
Hourly rate range: $17-$20. Full time employees receive a $150 a month reimbursement health stipend. PTO is accrued at the rate 0.0616 hours per hour worked. Time off paid for federal holidays and your birthday.
