Summary:
Responsible for assembling an entire product or component of a product within required quality specifications.
Examples of Duties:
- Reads blueprints and assembly instructions.
- Measures distances for placement of components within subassemblies.
- Uses hand tools to drill holes and perform other modifications.
- Assembles walk-in sections for foaming including those that contain wood pieces, special locks and strikes, cut-outs, ramps, etc.
- Cleans all excess foam from the foamed sections.
- Determines appropriate information labels based on blueprints or assembly instructions (e.g., UL stickers, serial numbers, etc.) and places them on completed sections.
- Cleans foreign material from the rails and pallets.
- Checks for defects in component parts and reports them to the supervisor.
- Performs housekeeping around his/her work area.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic math calculations including fractions.
- Skill in manipulating and interpreting a tape measure.
- Skill in reading and interpreting floor plans, blueprints, and assembly instructions.
- Skill in using small hand and power tools.
- Ability to comprehend and follow work instructions and company policies.
- Ability to evaluate and resolve problems.
- Ability to communicate with others in a professional and productive manner.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds semi-frequently.
- Ability to grasp and manipulate small parts and hand tools.
- Ability to plan ahead and anticipate issues in production
- Ability to perform the work with concern for the safety of self and others.
Education & Essential Qualifications:
- Must have the ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to properly utilize provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including eye protection, hearing protection, half-face and/or Powered Air Purifying Respirators, protective clothing, and fall restraint harnesses.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week and be available for overtime when necessary.
- Available for training on various shifts.
- Consistently/Frequently - see (vision), hear, ability to read and write, ability to interpret information, basic math, reading, and writing in English.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent attendance record and work history.
- A strong mechanical aptitude is highly preferred.
- 6 months to 1 year of Direct Manufacturing Experience.
- 1 to 2 years of General Manufacturing Experience.
- 3 to 4 years of Non-Manufacturing Experience
- While experience with similar machinery is preferred, it is not mandatory.
