RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Albany County Public Defender is seeking a NYS barred attorney to serve as its Family Court Assistant Public Defender. This is professional legal work involving the provision of legal services and counsel to qualified indigent persons in Family Court proceedings, including but not limited to Article 10, child support/visitation/custody and pre-petition representation. Duties are performed un-der the administrative supervision of the Public Defender with leeway allowed in planning and carrying out the details and representation of each client/case.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Attorney with a New York State Bar admission (or ability to waive into New York State from an-other jurisdiction) and two (2) years of experience in the practice of family court law.

• Knowledge of the principles and practices of county, state and federal laws as they apply to the Family Court system;

• Skill in preparing and drafting legal documents;

• Ability to analyze, appraise and apply legal principles, facts and precedents to legal problems.
