Position Overview:
As the Assistant Store Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Store Manager with
day-to-day operations including managing staff, ensuring a welcoming store environment, and
delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service:
- Assist the Store Manager in ensuring a high standard of customer service and creating a positive environment for families.
- Engage with customers, providing toy recommendations, answering questions and offering personalized service to enhance the shopping experience.
2. Store Operations:
- Assist the Store Manager in the daily operations of the store, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and ensuring all operational standards are met.
- Help oversee inventory management, including receiving shipments, restocking, and organizing displays to keep the store fresh and inviting.
- Ensure the store is well-maintained, clean, and visually appealing to provide a welcoming atmosphere for children and parents.
- Fulfill other tasks as assigned by the Store Manager to facilitate smooth store operations.
3. Staff Supervision & Training:
- Support the Store Manager in hiring, training, and mentoring store associates, ensuring the team is knowledgeable, motivated, and aligned with store values.
- Help create staff schedules, manage time-off requests, and ensure adequate staffing levels during peak times.
- Lead by example by demonstrating excellent customer service, promoting teamwork among sales associates, and fostering a positive work environment for all team members.
Qualifications:
- Enthusiasm for Toys and Children: An enjoyment of toys, puzzles, and games along with a genuine enthusiasm for creating a memorable store experience.
- Retail Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in retail, with a focus on customer service, sales, or store management, is preferred. Experience in a boutique or specialty retail environment is a plus.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to manage a small team, creating a fun and supportive working environment.
- Sales-Oriented: Ability to increase sales through excellent customer engagement and product knowledge.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize in a dynamic retail environment.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using retail management software including point-of-sale and inventory systems, along with social media platforms.
