Northwest Specialty Hospital, an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, brings expanded services to a new building located at 6223 Sharlands Ave. in Northwest Reno. The facility will offer acute rehabilitation and adult behavioral health services.

The adult behavioral health services offered is an expansion to our current 50 and older program at NNMC. The new program will offer behavioral health services to all adults 18 years and older. The department is managed through a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, CNAs, social workers, and therapists. Patients will experience an individualized care plan, inclusive of individual and family therapy, activities, medication management, and a 24-hour secure, compassionate environment.

This Behavioral Health Assessment Coordinator opportunity is part time at 20 hours per week, offers full benefits and a convenient dayshift schedule.

Under administrative supervision of the Director of Behavioral Health, the Behavioral Health Assessment Coordinator manages, markets, plans and organizes the Geropsychiatric Inpatient and medical detoxification admission processes, including but not limited to evaluations regarding appropriateness for admission, insurance preauthorization and utilization review, benefits verification, communication and coordination with any legal guardians and successful informational handoffs with RNs. This position also includes case management for the medical detoxification program. . S/he assists Director with the accurate collection and analysis of data regarding referral sources, admission trending, and non-admissions due to not meeting criteria for the unit. This position includes post discharge follow up of medical detoxification patients at 3 days post discharge. The population can include adolescents, adult and geriatric populations.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Conducts thorough pre-admission assessments of geropsychiatric and Medical Detoxification candidates from phone inquiries, faxed referrals and onsite assessments (i.e. medical floor and emergency department). Makes acceptance recommendation to Medical Director and/or Director of Behavioral Health.
  • Collaborates with in-house staff to offer geropsychiatric and medical detoxification services to patients on other floors and unit at NNMC who qualify. Coordinates with staff to transfer patients promptly to the unit to insure optimal patient care
  • Works closely with department Medical Director to assure admissions are appropriate and treatment plans are consistent with program objectives.

Qualifications


  • Graduate of an accredited college with a Bachelor's Degree or higher.
  • Current licensure in the State of Nevada as a LCSW or RN.
  • Experience working in a behavioral health treatment setting.
  • Basic Life Support certification. May obtain once hired within 90 days of employment.
