Description

Position Purpose:
Assist in formulating and defining systems scope and objectives using research and basic understanding of business systems and industry requirements. Learn to conduct business process analyses, needs assessments and cost/benefits analyses for aligning operations solutions with business initiatives. Aid in testing efforts and may provide security administration to application supported by area when the appropriate written and approved request is received.

Logistics:
This position has the potential to be a Hybrid position after an initial training period, located at 4101 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229. Please note, this is subject to change based on business needs and/or employee performance.
What You’ll Do:
  • Obtain a detailed understanding of the major operations and functions in effect within the areas being supported. Review basic system enhancements/upgrades to determine applicability of customer file modification requirements. Following clearly defined procedures, assist in facilitating timely and accurate updates to reference files based on customer requests.
  • Document system problems and assists in their resolution. Review and completes various daily reports to ensure system is performing as expected. Prepare written reports and analysis, including recommendations pertaining to system functionality and testing progress.
  • Prepare and reviews test data, test plans and test matrices for system changes. Develop test matrices to accurately reflect changes and detail expected outcome. Execute test cases and evaluate test results for errors. Report problems through appropriate channels and suggests corrections for a successful implementation.
  • Under the guidance of an advanced business analyst or manager, learn to define business requirements, perform tests, and may lead small projects.
  • Learn how to prepare and review data for analysis to evaluate the activities, performance and systems within a specific area for standards and workflow simplification.
  • Communicate with management and departmental personnel to document workflow procedures. Assist in preparing verbal and written communication about business changes with management or other staff members. Function as liaison between the operations testers and information systems to facilitate communications. In addition, assist customer testers with issues that arise during projects.
To Qualify for This Position, You’ll Need:
Required Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
Degree Equivalency:
  • Associate degree and 2 years of related work experience.
OR
  • 4 years of job-related work experience.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Basic knowledge of business support and systems concepts.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Good organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understands how projects and implementations affect an organization and can link it to business processes.
Required Software and Tools:
  • Microsoft Office.
What we Prefer you to have:
  • Bachelor's degree-in Computer Science, Business Administration, or another job-related field.
  • One year-of job-related business systems analysis, research and/or customer support experience.
  • Knowledge of procedures for the supported business unit.
  • computer programming skills.
  • Strong mathematical and statistical skills.
  • Working knowledge of BCBS/subsidiary systems. Knowledge of programming languages and/or concepts. Easytrieve, DB2 or related.
