Employment Services Technician 3 located in Kenai!

This position is in the Supervisory Unit (SS) at a Range 16.

What You Will Be Doing:
The Employment Services Technician 3 (EST 3) is a working supervisory position located at the Peninsula Job Center and serves under the direct supervision of the Gulf Coast Regional Manager.

This position manages a limited caseload and provides supervision, direction, leadership and programmatic support to EST 1/2s.

The EST 3 functions at the full proficiency level, working with program planning and budgets, and supervises the performance of a variety of assignments directly related to the administration of employment training grant funding, such as Title 1B of the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA), State Training and Employment Program (STEP) and others.

The Division of Employment and Training Services is devoted to comprehensive workforce development for both its staff and customers. The work week for this position is Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day between the hours of 8am - 5pm.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
The Employment Services Technician (EST) 3 is stationed in the heart of the City of Kenai. Our building has access to several restaurants, walking paths, and the local business district. You will be located inside the newly remodeled Peninsula Job Center (PJC). The PJC has a team-centered, professional working environment with an emphasis on exceptional customer service. PJC staff have strong core values and a solid commitment to the work we do, and we recognize that each individual has a specialized skillset that brings value to the team. This EST position is customer-service driven as well as supervisory and involves extensive contact with the public and staff via phone, email, video communication as well as face to face.

This position position requires regular travel via state vehicle, occasional in-state travel and possible out-of-state travel, in addition to the ability to access military bases and installations.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of experience as an Employment Services Technician 2 with the State of Alaska or equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Two years of experience as an Employment Services Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Three years of experience such as providing employment services; coordinating training services; conducting skills assessments; making referrals to community support services; assisting individuals apply for federal/state financial assistance or benefits; providing services to the public; explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements to the public; resolving customer complaints or problems; calculating costs, refunds, taxes, or benefits; providing written explanations, summaries, reports, or correspondence; or locating and inputting information into data systems such as reservation, ticketing, or application systems.

  • A list of three (3) professional references, one of which should be your most recent supervisor, including name, job title, employer, and current daytime phone number(s).
  • A copy of your last two (2) performance evaluations. If performance evaluations are unavailable, provide two (2) professional letters of recommendation from someone other than your three (3) professional references.
