Job Summary:
This position is accountable for examining, coding and inputting all cash receipts into UPS and NASCO. This position is also accountable for various accounting clerical tasks associated with processing cash receipts, off-system payments, daily systemic disbursements, 1099 reporting, imaging cash receipts and sorting mail.
  • Analyze daily systemic cash disbursements to ensure all postings to the General Ledger are accurate and update the 1099 schedule with disbursement information
  • Prepare journal entries for issued checks and complete adjusting entries as needed
  • Sort return checks by system, code and batch by cash type, calculate totals for each batch.
  • Input returned and refunded checks to the various payment systems and balance daily input to cash control transaction report to ensure all data is accounted for in the General Ledger
  • Verifies all checks have been endorsed, have a valid payee and are not stale dated.
  • Review input briefs and correspondence for accuracy and adequacy, and refer back to requestor as needed
  • Image checks and correspondence and route to Operations
  • Prepare daily deposits of checks and deliver to the Cashiers Department
  • Prepare manual off system checks and related accounting entries for all existing systems.
Education/Experience:
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED
  • Prefers at least one year clerical business experience, preferably within an accounting, financial or banking environment to be determined via interview and/or reference check

Knowledge:
  • Prefer knowledge of accounting procedures
  • Prefer knowledge of current Horizon payment and claims systems

Skills and Abilities:
  • Requires the ability to understand and use language correctly as determined by the Language Skills Test (UL)
  • Requires the ability to perform basic arithmetical skills as determined by the Computation Test (UM)
  • Requires the ability to type a minimum of 25 WPM as determined by a typing test
  • Requires the ability to quickly and accurately perceive detailed information, including verbal and numerical material to be determined by the Forms Checking Test (UF)
  • Requires PC skills, including MS Office applications

Salary Range:
$39,603 - $52,678
This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case.
