OVERVIEW:
The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply to the Catering Food Service Worker opening within the University's Dining Services Department.

  • With full benefits, the position pays $18.00/hr
  • Full Time, 12 months out of the year
  • Work directly for the university, not a food service company

Schedule and Location:
This position will largely work on the Minneapolis campus and have a schedule of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, but this will largely be dependent on business needs and event schedules. There will be times the person in this role will need to work on the St. Paul campus as well as work on nights and weekends.

Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance in the food preparation of meals in back-of-house or front-of-house operations
  • Interact with customers and prepare customized, made-to-order menu items in a high-volume environment
  • Prep food throughout shift and assist all culinary staff in completing prep sheet
  • Set up/close down open line workstation for service
  • Follow ServSafe food handling guidelines and maintain a clean work station

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • One year of experience with food preparation in an institutional setting
  • ServSafe certification from the State of Minnesota, and/or additional food preparation or cooking experience preferred
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check is a condition of employment for this position

This position works a flexible schedule based on business needs, including nights and weekends.

This position is designated Emergency Essential. Emergency Essential employees may be expected to remain at work if campus closes during their regular work schedule or to report to work if the campus-closing announcement is made before their regular work schedule begins.
