Licensed Daycare Director

The Program Director should be able to communicate effectively the processes and procedures that are needed to improve the program and to encourage the staff morale. Must be able build rapport with parents and guardians to ensure both sides are being heard and valued.

The qualified program director level candidate will have a passion to train staff at entry level and staff with high-level experience in child care. This candidate should possess high energy and the ability to recognize shortcomings within classroom management.

Program Director Responsibilities:

  • Daily Lunch and Closing Schedule:
  • Schedule Management: Oversee the daily schedule for their respective programs, ensuring it is distributed promptly. Monitor staff attendance, identifying any absences and implementing strategies to fill gaps while maintaining room coverage.
  • Closing Hour Coverage: Ensure that their program's closing hours are adequately staffed, without relying on support from other programs.

  • New Hire Mentorship
  • Acting as a shadow and mentor for new hires. This includes providing guidance, support and training to help new staff members acclimate to their roles.
  • Demonstrate best practices, answer questions, and offer feedback to ensure new hires understand their responsibilities and integrate smoothly into the LMC team.

  • Cleaning Schedule:
  • Cleaning Accountability: Ensure that all cleaning and sanitizing tasks are completed as scheduled each day.
  • Checklist Development: Collaborate with the Training Director to create a comprehensive cleaning checklist that establishes consistent standards across all programs, ensuring accountability.

  • Parent Involvement:
  • Sickness Notifications and Communication: Manage all communications regarding sickness, Sickness breakouts (covid, hfm, pink eye, etc), send-outs, and other issues related to the children in their programs, directly contacting parents as necessary.
  • Disenrollment Discussions: Collaborate with the leadership team to discuss cases where a child is at risk of disenrollment and determine appropriate next steps.
  • Monthly Parent Engagement: Program directors will collaborate to plan and organize monthly parent engagement activities. These initiatives aim to foster stronger relationships between parents and staff, create opportunities for open dialogue, and enhance the overall community within the center. Each month will feature a different theme or focus, such as educational workshops, family fun days, or informational sessions on child development. By actively involving parents, we hope to encourage their participation in their child's learning journey and strengthen the partnership between home and the center.
  • Meeting and Greeting New Families:
  • Welcoming New Families: Personally meet and welcome every new family in their program, spending at least 5-10 minutes discussing the program and highlighting positive aspects.
  • Facilitating Introductions: Facilitate a brief introduction between the new family and their child's teacher, allowing parents to ask questions and understand the quality of care their child will receive.

  • Display of Program Goals: Create a display in the hallway or outside the classroom doors that showcases the highlights and goals of their program, including significant milestones like potty training achievements or writing skills.
  • Teacher Highlight Section: Include a section dedicated to highlighting teachers, sharing interesting facts and information to help families connect with the educators.
  • Program Goal Setting:
  • Establishing Program Goals: Each program is encouraged to set specific goals, such as a 100% success rate in potty training for the Toddler Program or establishing consistent sleep schedules for infants.
  • Collaborative Goal Development: Encourage in setting goals to foster a sense of ownership and motivation toward achieving larger objectives.
  • Professionalism:
  • Dress to Impress: Individuals in director or leadership positions are expected to adhere to a higher standard of attire, reflecting the professionalism of our center. This means that casual clothing, such as sweats or workout gear, should only be worn during planned events or designated casual days.
  • Attire Choices: Opt for business casual or formal wear that is appropriate for your role. This includes collared shirts, blouses, dress pants, or skirts. Aim for clothing that is neat, clean, and well-fitted to convey a polished image.
  • Personal Grooming: Maintain a well-groomed appearance. This includes regular haircuts, clean nails, and minimal, tasteful jewelry. Avoid overly casual hairstyles and ensure that personal hygiene is prioritized.
  • Appropriate Footwear: Choose shoes that are professional yet comfortable for a work environment. Closed-toe shoes or dress sandals are recommended, avoiding flip-flops or overly casual footwear.
  • Positive Attitude: Carry yourself with confidence and positivity. A professional demeanor includes maintaining an approachable and friendly attitude, as well as being respectful and supportive of colleagues and parents.
  • Effective Communication: Practice clear and professional communication in both verbal and written forms. This includes using polite language, being attentive in conversations, and responding promptly to inquiries.
  • Body Language: Be mindful of your body language. Maintain eye contact, offer a firm handshake, and exhibit open and welcoming gestures. Your body language should convey professionalism and engagement.

Program Director Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years child care experience (required)
  • Level 3 or higher (Preferred Director Certification)
  • EQIT (Preferred)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Schedule: Monday through Friday

Pay: Based on Experience

Reports to Director of Operations
