Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Clinical/Clerical Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate should possess a comprehensive set of clinical and clerical skills, including the ability to room patients, administer injections, handle front and back-office duties, process insurance authorizations, answer phones, and efficiently triage nurse calls. This role requires a proactive and organized individual who can seamlessly navigate both patient care and administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

1. Patient Rooming:

- Escort patients to examination rooms.

- Record and update patient medical history and vital signs.

- Prepare patients for examination by the provider.

2. Injections:

- Administer injections and medications as directed by the healthcare provider.

- Ensure proper documentation and follow infection control protocols.

3. Front Office Duties:

- Greet and assist patients at the front desk.

- Schedule appointments and manage patient check-ins.

- Verify and update patient information.

- Handle billing and insurance-related inquiries.

4. Back Office Responsibilities:

- Assist with medical procedures and examinations.

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of medical supplies and equipment.

- Handle specimen collection and processing.

5. Insurance Authorizations:

- Process insurance authorizations and verify patient coverage.

- Communicate with insurance companies to obtain necessary approvals.

6. Phone Management:

- Answer and direct incoming phone calls.

- Provide information and assistance to patients and other callers.

- Take and relay messages to appropriate personnel.

7. Triage Nurse Calls:

- Receive and triage nurse calls, assessing urgency and coordinating appropriate responses.

- Provide basic medical advice and instructions as directed by healthcare providers.

Qualifications:

- Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent certification required.

- Experience: Proven experience in both clinical and clerical healthcare settings.

- Skills:

- Proficiency in rooming patients and administering injections.

- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Familiarity with medical office software and electronic health records (Athena).

- Knowledge of insurance processes and authorization procedures.

Education:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

Working Conditions:

- Fast-paced healthcare environment.

- Regular interaction with patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff.

- May require occasional evening or weekend hours based on the clinic's schedule.
