We're sorry, but this job posting has expired or this position is no longer available!

AmeriCorps VISTA is a federally funded volunteer program that provides members with a monthly living allowance as well as an education award at the end of service. This is the first year of a 3-year VISTA project.

Mission Community Outreach Center (MCOC) is open to everyone and works to remove barriers for our guests. With the support of volunteers, MCOC aims to assist those in need by providing items but also creating an atmosphere where everyone is welcome. This VISTA project would support MCOC’s established programs which provide clothing, hygiene items, and household essentials, through a heavy focus on revitalizing and maintaining volunteer programming with a supplemental opportunity to increase resources allocated to the organization through grant writing and fundraising. As the need for services increases in the community, this VISTA project will ensure there are engaged volunteers at MCOC, as well as financial resources allocated towards increasing the service capacity of MCOC.

VISTA member assignments will include researching best practices for volunteer management and integrating them into current MCOC volunteer structure, improving the foundational structure of MCOC’s volunteer program, specifically focusing on volunteer recruitment and continued engagement, developing improved volunteer programming and processes, and increasing resources allocated to MCOC programming.

Member Duties : Conduct a volunteer needs assessment to identify skill and commitments required. Complete an audit of current processes and history of volunteer engagement, paying attention to strengths and growth areas. Create a streamlined, documented process that encompasses initial volunteer interest through the volunteer performance evaluation or exit from the program. Create volunteer onboarding materials to equip volunteers for effective and fulfilling service experience. Create and implement an ongoing Volunteer Training schedule, ensuring Volunteers’ needs are met. Seek out resources regarding best practices for grant writing. Research potential grant opportunities and develop a grant writing calendar that identifies potential funding sources. Develop a systematic approach for collecting service statistics and client testimonials so that MCOC can convey their impact through data and narrative information. Research best practices for new donor engagement and current donor retention.
