Job Description

Class Concept

As part of an evolving, fast-paced organization with a strong focus on arts and education, the successful candidate will provide a safe, supportive and stimulating environment while teaching basic theater principles and skills for ages 8-17. This role supports the Abbey Theater of Dublin's year-round theater education initiatives, located at the Dublin Community Recreation Center (DCRC).

Availability/Scheduling

  • We offer flexible scheduling with a variety of shifts available
  • This is a part-time position that requires the successful candidate to work non-traditional hours which include evenings, weekends and holidays
  • We ask that candidates be available for approximately 5-15 hours per week, with additional hours required during peak performance weeks

Examples of Duties

Examples of duties include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Implement the theater program activity schedule and instructional program
  • Facilitate group theater camp sessions in a shared, collaborative space
  • Contribute to a safe, supportive and structured setting that encourages self-expression and personal growth
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to participants
  • Communicate with program supervisors on a regular basis to ensure integrated support and person-centered theater education program
  • Request program supplies and equipment as needed
  • Utilize outcome measures to identify areas for continuous quality improvement
  • Inspire, motivate and set a positive example for participants

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of a high school diploma, GED, college experience or equivalent professional experience and/or training
  • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification within 60 days of hire
  • Ability to effectively communicate with participants and parents
  • Availability to work days, evenings or weekends dependent on the program schedule
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one year of previous theater education experience
  • Ability to provide age appropriate theater instruction for ages 8-17
