Job Description

What You’ll Do:

Ohio Department of Public Safety – Emergency Medical Services

Report In Location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223

Work Hours: 8:00AM to 5:00PM

(CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE) Will report to the office 5 days a week during an assigned training period. After successful completion of the training period, this position will report into the office 3 days a week and telework 2 days a week. Subject to change.

Under the direction of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Chief of Investigative Services, provides program direction by relieving superior of a variety of difficult administrative duties pertaining to EMS Compliance Program:

  • Plan, develop & organize all major aspects, activities & initiatives of EMS Compliance Program; Plan, write & implement program goals & objectives;
  • Independently answer complex &/or confidential inquiries; Respond to programmatic issues &/or needs of leadership, staff or stakeholders;
  • Conduct follow-up & enforcement of disciplinary sanctions &/or stipulations; Follow-up & track monetary fines & forward payments through Remittance Processing;
  • Follow-up on continuing education from consent agreement cases & refer to appropriate section at EMS for review;
  • Implement &/or lift certification suspensions &/or limitations; Implement certification revocations &/or denials as directed;
  • Formulate & implement new policies, procedures, best practices &/or other pertinent documents; Review &/or modify existing program policies or procedures; Provide recommendations & technical advice to aid administrators in decision making;
  • Schedule & coordinate 119 hearings for Division; Forward hearing invoices for court reporter services for payment to appropriate section; Receive & distribute reports & recommendations to hearing parties & communicate with respondents & counsel regarding case presentation to the Board &/or Executive Director;
  • Identify & forward cases involving potential violations of consent agreements & orders of the State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire, Transportation Services &/or the Executive Director, for consideration of further action;
  • Represent the division as Safe Haven Program Coordinator;
  • Review various information & or websites as part of the vetting process for applicants to the program; Discuss program terms & conditions with applicants & make referrals to Ohio Professionals Health Program (OPHP);
  • Follow-up & review confidential correspondence from OPHP to ensure compliance with program requirements; Provide routine updates to Board &/or Executive Director;
  • Track & compile program statistics & review with the Board &/or Executive Director;
  • Serve as EMS background check coordinator; Receive & document within various Division databases & communicate with Investigations &/or other sections regarding receipt & results of Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) & Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background checks;
  • Follow-up with individuals &/or organizations on outstanding background checks; Maintain received background checks in accordance with Division of EMS retention schedule;
  • Create & deliver presentations on the compliance process;
  • Represent the division when speaking to State EMS & Fire organizations, instructor groups & training programs regarding compliance issues & processes;
  • Review & maintain compliance information on the division webpage;
  • Retain records in accordance with applicable retention schedules;
  • Research & respond to inquiries & complaints;
  • Maintain records & prepare periodic reports for compliance activities for Board &/or Executive Director;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in business administration management science or public administration.

  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management science or public administration; 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position.

  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in academic field commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on file; 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position or staff position involving planning, research &/or policy/procedure development.

  • Or 1 yr. exp. as Program Administrator 1, 63122.

  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above
