Job Description

Autonomous vehicles collect vast amounts of data that bring value to customers when we are able to extract the data from the vehicle. As there are many GB of data off load time to offload is a very critical metric for our L4 autonomous vehicle program. This Design Release Engineer role will work with Cruise Automation to implement an industry 1st 60GHz ultra high-speed Wi-Fi system that wireless performs this task with the vehicle returns for charging. This technology exists in the consumer market but has not been utilized for automotive applications until now. At this very high frequency, there are a number of technological challenges that will need be overcome and this role is ideal for any candidate comfortable working with ambiguity and critical problem solving. The role will require close coordination with Cruise Automation and the current Tier 1 supplier, Accton.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead/Support Product Development Team PDT, through the product development cycle to design, validate and implement new antenna technology
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams including- vehicle program teams, Milford Proving Grounds (MPG) test facilities, Cruise Automation and supplier for testing and issue resolution
  • Arrange and lead technical discussions between Cruise and the Tier 1 supplier Accton.
  • Own an investigation effort to explore new antenna integration technology for future GM products

Additional Job Description

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of automotive design, release or validation engineering experience
  • EMC, RF or Antenna design experience
  • DFMEA / PFMEA Experience
  • Leadership skills with a proven track record for overcoming ambiguity
  • Robust interpersonal skills to communicate across multiple levels of management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in an Electrical Engineering
  • Understanding antenna technologies, RF theory

T his role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.

This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
