Job Description

As an Engineering Technician II you will provide technical and field support services including planning, organizing, and managing project tasks for KLJ client projects.

Essential Functions

  • Contribute to support the project plan, execution strategy and management of the field construction services alone or in a group setting
  • Able to proficiently demonstrate field observation and documentation practices necessary to fulfill project duties
  • Apply concept of field construction and engineering processes, procedures and methods
  • Ability to read and process contractual documents
  • Assist with design, plans, specifications, reports, maps, schedules, estimates, data collection, documents and agreements as needed
  • Provide quality control by reviewing completed work to ensure compliance with KLJ quality standards
  • Communicate consistently with the project manager, client and contractor
  • Read and interpret construction plans to assist with client management and effectively communicate to answer inquiries from coworkers, clients, or the public
  • Utilize software(s) associated with typical project tasking and project requirements
  • Able to support the coordination of needed resources if applicable
  • Ensure compliance with KLJ safety and quality standards
  • Utilize effective written and oral communication

Responsibilities

  • Assist with design, plans, specifications, reports, maps, schedules, estimates, data collection, documents and agreements as needed
  • Responsible for field construction administration processes and performing on-site construction observation
  • Work with and provide support to peers, supervisors and customers in a professional manner
  • Mentoring Associate Technician’s to a higher level of performance
  • May serve as technical resources on projects or tasks.
  • Become familiar with the plans and specifications, maps, and related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately
  • May support development of construction scoping and execution methodology
  • Maintain familiarity with any regulatory body or requirement to facilitate project completion

Qualifications

  • An Associate’s degree in an accredited engineering or construction management program; applicable experience can be substituted in lieu of formal education
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate motorized vehicles

Preferences:

  • Previous construction field project oversight experience

Relationships

The Engineering Technician II is supervised by the Team Leader and receives general supervision on project related tasks from the Project Manager. Project related supervisory responsibilities may include technicians and support staff members.

  • Orientate new individuals concerning policy and procedures and work practices.

Hours and Travel

This position requires the individual work 40+ hours per week with 20% of time spent in the office and 80% in the field.

  • Sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms

The employee must:

  • Be able to walk on uneven terrain up to three miles per day
  • Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The salary for this position is expected to range between $52,110 and $62,790. This estimated salary represents the middle of the range. Factors that may be used to determine actual salary include education (or applicable experience), training, job location, competencies relevant to the role, and internal equity.
