heavy Civil Superintendent

Introduction: We are hiring a skilled superintendent with experience in excavation, site work, concrete, piping, and process equipment installation. The ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and submittals is required. The ability to participate actively in the work and lead a team as the working superintendent is preferred. Water and wastewater treatment plant experience is also strongly preferred.

Job Summary: Provide overall leadership for on-site construction, including direct supervision of Gallo tradesmen, subcontractors, and other construction related personnel. Direct them in planning, coordination and execution of work to be on time and within budget while maintaining a safe workplace and promoting client relationships.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Utilize drawings and submittals to create detailed work plans, including required manpower, equipment, and small tools and supplies needed to complete all tasks

· Communicate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure that materials are on-site when needed, and that subcontracted work is completed on time

· Ensure that work is being completed safely and that the quality of work performed exceeds expectations

· Compile timesheets weekly and assign labor hours to cost codes to ensure labor dollars are being accurately tracked

· Promote our company image through professional interaction with owners, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers on our jobsites

Job Qualifications:

· 5-7 years of experience in civil construction, including exposure to excavation, utilities and concrete work

· 1-3 years of experience in leading a team

· Ability to travel within a 1 hour radius of Watervliet, NY

· Knowledge of OSHA requirements and ability to create a job hazard analysis

· Proficiency with Microsoft Project/Excel/Outlook, and other basic computer software

Preferred Qualifications:

· Working experience on construction projects related to water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and complex municipal infrastructure work.

· Ability to operate heavy equipment, actively work as part of the crew assisting with excavation, pipefitting, carpentry, ironworking, and millwrighting as required

· 2-year or 4-year college degree

· Experience building crews, including assisting in recruiting, training, and retaining tradesmen

· Developing 2-week look-ahead schedules to assist in forecasting labor expenses and manhour needs
