What Business Analysis contributes to Cardinal Health

Business Analysis is responsible for deeply understanding the business in multiple functional areas and across Business Units, as well as understanding the application landscape and capabilities.

They maintain relationships with the business and leverage requirements engineering practices and methods to enable improved business processes to drive business success.

They align business strategies and capability needs into business and technical requirements to ensure IT systems enable the desired value.

Knows and executes best practices for business analysis processes and functions (from an industry and strategic standpoint), including requirements elicitation methods.

Knows emerging trends.

Defines requirements in accordance with SDP/SDLC, management and project/product scope.

Ensures problem statements and objectives are clearly defined.

Ensures requirements are aligned to project scope, objectives and strategies.

Leads elicitation sessions using variety of requirements gathering methods such as interviews, documentation analysis, surveys, site visits, business models with executives, managers, developers and subject matter experts.

Facilitates the team through the analysis of, and makes recommendations towards, complex business decisions.

Mediates across different IT teams utilizing knowledge of IT and roles and responsibilities within the organization.

Focuses on process analysis and re-engineering, with an understanding of technical problems and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment.

Demonstrates excellent listening, communication, and facilitation skills.


Cardinal Health has an open Business Analyst role supporting the core processes within the Medical Segment’s TPM team.

The TPM (Technology Platform Medical) team provides the IT support for the SAP ERP running the Medical Segment’s US Sales and Distribution business.

Core business processes include supply chain planning and execution, customer relationship management, sales and distribution, order management, pricing, and logistics execution.

This position will be responsible for:

Perform effective analysis of new capabilities and/or changing business needs: investigate the business operations, identify, and expose the causes behind the results achieved, and articulate the effects of those results on the business

Partner with functional experts to ensure scope is clearly defined for all build initiatives, or halt work after only minimal investment

Lead elicitation sessions with impacted stakeholders to develop and articulate process flows, requirements, and rules, and prepare appropriate documentation in support of all build work

Identify, document, and trace business requirements through enterprise analysis activities to ensure the project’s charter, scope, and strategy, will provide business benefits

Create detailed business analysis with clearly defined problem statements, options analysis, and recommended solutions

Define and document test cases, lead test execution, track test results and defects, report test results.

Partner with Subject Matter Experts to ensure User Acceptance Testing and Change Management activities are planned and acted upon for all solution delivery

Provide timely and effective communications, including appropriate status updates, to all impacted stakeholders / project partners

Convey thoughts and ideas simply and concisely; break down complex topics and translates content in easy-to-understand messages; separate what is important from what is not

Build relationships across the enterprise; communicate effectively and efficiently across multiple business units

Develop subject matter expertise on key business processes


Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience preferred

4 or more years of experience as a business analyst in large multi-functional / technical environments, preferred

Significant hands-on experience gathering requirements, creating functional specs, and building complex process flows

Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational and planning skills

Strong oral/written communicator; excellent listener

Working knowledge in one or more of the following business processes is required: Order To Cash, Sales and Distribution, Procure to Pay, Plan to Stock, Logistics, Operations

Previous work experience as a Business Analyst or functional lead is preferred

Experience supporting development in and SAP environment is preferred

Implementation experience in full life cycle, large scale projects, where the solution is integrated across SAP platforms / modules and non-SAP platforms

Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that includes Cardinal Health employees and offshore/onshore consultants

Experience in Agile Project Management methodologies preferred

Proficient PC skills: including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Office 365, Strong Visio experience preferred
