Responsibilities: Job Summary
The COORDINATOR-HEALTH UNIT performs a variety of diverse administrative/clerical duties for the unit including customer service and coordination of flow and activity on the unit, typing, filing, data input, answering phones, acting as a resource for the EMR for providers, assisting in notification of consultants, order entry for specialized and downtime orders, ordering supplies and preparing special projects for the unit. Provides support to the physicians by maintaining patient charts. Assumes responsibility and accountability for incorporating the vision, values, mission, and critical goals of the organization into their job performance. Additionally, assumes responsibility for their role in achieving/maintaining financial health of the organization by utilizing resources effectively and efficiently; recommends change as necessary.
  • Provides diverse administrative/clerical and reception support for the unit, which may include management of supplies and utilizing a variety of office equipment and computer programs and answering the unit phones. Coordinates overall unit activities including but not limited to greeting patients and families, physicians, traffic control, answering call lights from desk or on occasion from in the room. Provides customer services by addressing or redirecting questions or concerns from patients, families, caregivers or health care team members.
  • Provides Clinician eLINQs adoption support to include but not limited to assisting the physicians, midlevels and nurses with eLINQs as a resource/go to person for the unit, nurse notification of new orders, notification to consulting physicians, downtime orders, order input for specialized needs, scanning pharmacy orders as needed, survey charts for new orders.
  • Coordinates the Patient Experience for the unit. While this may vary between unit and hospital, this function may include but not be limited to the following accountabilities: discharge phone calls and instructions relative to the expecting the call, assisting the patient and family with the educational video, rounding with the nursing assistant/PCT, assembling the new patient folder and sharing with the patient, monitoring and facilitating the unit throughput relative to patient discharges, tracking census and coordinating patient placement with the nursing supervisor.
  • Maintains chart integrity by assuring that appropriate forms are included in the chart, performs chart audits for DNV Advanced directives.
  • Contributes to the recruitment and retention of talented staff through positive role-modeling, fostering peer relationships, and participating in preceptor programs.
  • Completes yearly education requirements; participates in quality improvement. Practice and performance reflects knowledge of relevant compliance, regulation, legislation, certification, and HonorHealth System and Department policies;
