The creative group at Salesforce has an opening for a mid-level copywriter supporting our Platform Creative team. We’re looking for a dedicated, collaborative person who can not only build committed, original, and effective creative writing, but can develop it within a business strategy.
You must be able to:
Work independently and as part of the creative team, including creative and art directors, motion designers, video editors, and designers, to deliver excellent work on every aspect of a project
Must be able to transform sophisticated messaging into simple and understandable headlines
Flex across subject matter and wear multiple hats, thinking beyond what it means to be a copywriter and working alongside designers in their day-to-day role
Use Google Office Suite, Asana, Figma, and Salesforce tools to collaborate and implement work remotely and comfortably communicate via text-based and video chats
Understand the business and industry of our target audience: across all product and industries
Can mentor other writers on Salesforce voice and brand, as well as general copy standard processes including but not limited to ads, the web, print, and events
Be in perpetual state of learning, always trying to understand the landscape of our industry and our competitors, and constantly honing your writing and conceptual craft
Bring a demeanor of modesty, integrity, and fun to your work and leadership
Remain positive and be essential with a bias toward action during times of ambiguity, take initiative to move forward, and seek the required project information
Participate successfully in all vital internal and external meetings — briefings, status, brainstorming sessions, and presentations
Prioritize projects to lead multiple tasks at once; able to work with project management to meet all deadlines
Present and sell the creative work to executives, stating a clear POV on the creative, the strategy that advised it, and the messaging that’s being communicated
Understands typography: how type, font, weight, style, and hierarchy communicates voice
Has a sensitivity to how words interact with design elements
Provide a point of view and express it well
Develop a creative strategy, finding opportunities within a project to build content and provide value
Maintain strong, positive relationships with all members of the Creative team, as well as members of the Product Marketing, Campaigns, and Experience teams (such as Demand Generation, Content, and Events)
Lead all information and updates (pertaining to copy) from start to finish
Accept and successfully incorporate partner and peer feedback into work, revising as needed
Be able to defend good copy and decisions
Work quickly and successfully under tight deadlines
Define personas and messaging for each
Familiar with web standard processes, analytics, narrative, visitor flow, and digital CTAs
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
Minimum of 5 years experience
We encourage individuals from non-traditional writing backgrounds who are able to set themselves up as multidisciplinary creatives interested in influencing the process from start to finish
You have a portfolio that displays effective, compelling writing and includes short form work such as headlines,
Strong conceptual skills
Experience with corporate marketing and branding, and a clear understanding of marketing strategies and concepts
Strong presentation skills, and outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to interpret creative direction, and a eagerness to learn
Comfort with ambiguity and change
Experience writing both print and web copy
Experience writing long-form/journalistic copy
Strong proofing/copy editing skills are desirable
