Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s Corporate Communications Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Corporate Communications Manager for Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas.

The primary responsibility of this role is to lead all external communications, relationships, and activities to protect and grow Toyota’s reputation in the region.

Reporting to the Corporate Communications Group Manager, Manufacturing, the person in this role will support the Toyota Texas Corporate Communication department's objective to proactively build key relationships internally and externally to mitigate any risks to our reputation or future growth and success.

This position is based at our manufacturing facility in San Antonio, Texas. The selected candidate will be required to reside within commutable distance of this location.

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage; strategy and annual goals, plant executive expectations, and one motivated Analyst; support 6+ contracted staff for Experience Center on property.
  • Media & Public Relations; Create strategy and manage onsite media relations and external agencies on behalf of the plant, Experience/Visitor Centers, and other onsite business units.
  • Social Innovation/Philanthropy & Community Relations; Create a regional strategic plan for annual giving, sponsorships, volunteer projects, and community engagement opportunities.
  • Government Affairs; Develop and execute a strategy to maintain positive relationships with local elected leaders and community influencers.
  • Budget Management; Responsible for Corporate Communications and Social Innovation business unit budgets.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, business-related field, or a complementary degree, OR equivalent professional experience relevant to this position.
  • Experience in public relations or related marketing communications field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (a writing test will be administered).
  • Comfortable speaking on behalf of the company, on the record, for print, online, and broadcast outlets.
  • Experience leading and managing a team.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks on tight deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with top U.S. executives.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to communicate with external audiences.

Added bonus if you have

  • Event planning and execution experience.
  • Communications plans and execution experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Conversational or proficient Spanish skills.
  • Budget management experience.
