Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Barista to join our team. As a Barista, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, preparing and serving a variety of coffee beverages, and promoting our delicious gelato offerings. In addition to crafting the perfect cup of coffee, you will also play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and inviting environment for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and welcoming manner.
Take customer orders and provide recommendations based on their preferences.
Efficiently handle cash transactions and operate the point-of-sale system.
Coffee Preparation:

• Expertly prepare and serve a range of coffee beverages, including espresso, cappuccino, latte, and more.
• Ensure consistent quality in every cup by following established recipes and brewing techniques.
• Keep abreast of coffee trends and participate in ongoing training to enhance skills.

Cleanliness and Organization:

• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the coffee preparation area and gelato display.
• Regularly clean and sanitize coffee equipment, utensils, and serving areas.
• Monitor and restock coffee, chocolate and gelato supplies as needed.
• Empty trash as needed to ensure a clean and safe environment.

Team Collaboration:

• Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues to coordinate tasks and provide excellent service.
• Back up other staff as necessary.

Customer Service & Sales:

• Promote and upsell our delicious offerings to our customers.
• Educate customers about the variety of coffee, chocolate and gelato flavors available and assist with flavor choices.
• Process orders efficiently and ensure timely service.

Adherence to Health and Safety Standards:

• Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure the well-being of customers and staff.
• Adhere to food safety standards.

Flexibility:

• Be adaptable to varying work schedules, including weekends and holidays.
• Assist with additional tasks as needed, such as, sales, cleaning, inventory management, restocking and special promotions.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a barista or in a similar customer service role is preferred.
• Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and familiarity with different coffee beans.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math skills for handling cash transactions.

Duties:
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks
- Take customer orders and accurately input them into the POS system
- Operate coffee brewing equipment and espresso machi math skills for cash handling and retail math calculations
- Customer service experience in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with food service regulations and food handling procedures
- Proficiency with POS systems, preferably Aloha POS
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and calculating recipe proportions
