Shift: 32 hours per week, rotating

Position Summary: Provides ancillary service to the Emergency and Psychiatry Departments in the evaluation of patients who present to the ED with behavioral health complaints that may or may not require hospitalization. Provides expeditious patient assessments and collaborates with medical providers in determining the appropriate disposition and treatment. Serves as a resource to patients’ families and the community.

While functioning in ED or inpatient behavioral health, the staff is responsible for patient care, displaying skills in assessment, treatment planning, and individual, group, and family counseling for the behavioral health service. Additionally, he/she is expected to function as a member of the multidisciplinary team and participate in the unit community relations program.

Education and Experience

  • Licensure as an LICSW, LIGSW, LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), or LGPC (Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor) in the District of Columbia. Graduate of an accredited program for social work services, counseling, or equivalent.
  • Master’s Degree in relevant field (Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Mental Health, Nursing, etc.)

Salary Range: Minimum $39.17 per hour - Maximum $51.88 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
