Summary

ISU Dining is a self-operating, self-funded department serving students, faculty, staff, and campus guests through the operation of all-you-care-to eat dining centers, fast-casual restaurants, cafes, convenience stores and market, and the MU food court, and catering services.

ISU Dining also operates a central production kitchen and bakery, food stores warehouse and distribution center, and several administrative units including culinary management, support services, engagement, business services and financial operations, dining information systems.

ISU Dining is seeking a Data Analyst I to join our Business team. This role will have a primarily focus on inventory management, including inventory-related best management practices. This role will be responsible for data integrity and providing valuable insights related to waste analysis while impacting forecasting and ordering through enhanced data reporting for unit management. Additionally, the individual in this role consult with and influence inventory-related best practices and operational procedures within Dining operations.

Applies knowledge in providing data analytics services. Gathers operational data to examine past organization performance. Identifies data patterns and trends, and provides insights to enhance decision-making capability.

Example of Duties
  • Gathers operational data to examine past organization performance.
  • Assist in the preparation, cleansing, and verification of data.
  • Perform basic data manipulation and analysis techniques.
  • Develops and analyzes organizational data to quantify the competitive performance of business segments, evaluate potential operational changes, and design new approaches and methodologies.
  • Applies and integrates statistical, mathematical, predictive modeling and business analysis skills to manage and manipulate high volume data from a variety of sources.
  • Recommends actions for future developments & strategic business opportunities, as well as enhancements to operational policies.
  • May be involved in exploratory data analysis, confirmatory data analysis and/or qualitative analysis.

  • Grasps professional-level knowledge and concepts of field while working in a progressive learning mode
  • Works on problems and issues of somewhat limited scope

  • May provide guidance to students
