Job Description

Horsham Township in Montgomery County, PA, is seeking a qualified professional, with experience, who is dynamic and personable for the position of Deputy Tax Collector - this position will report directly to the Director of Finance. This union position will be responsible for collecting real-estate taxes, preparing tax bills for mailing, processing checks and credit card payments, preparing county and municipal tax certifications, processing interim reports and court stipulations, maintaining tax records for all accounts, and significant public interaction. Related financial responsibilities include but are not limited to, preparing collected payments to send to the various tax authorities and preparing monthly and annual reports. Deputy Tax Collector will support the Finance Dept/Bookkeeper in preparing monthly bank reconciliations, deposits, bank transfers, journal entries to the general ledger, recording and reconciling credit card transactions, processing accounts payable and accounts receivable along with additional duties as needed within the Finance department.

The successful candidate will possess proficient writing abilities, have outstanding verbal communication and customer service skills, be proficient in Microsoft Office, be able to navigate tax and online reporting requirements, and have outstanding organizational and time management skills. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, public administration, or another related field, as well as municipal payroll experience is preferred, however not required.
