Job Summary:
Fountain Springs Healthcare Center is looking for a Dietary Assistant Manager that has a passion for food and nutrition and providing a great dining experience for our residents.
Essential Everyday Functions:
  • Prepare pre-planned cycle menus in an efficient and effective manner
  • Perform food preparation tasks as assigned.
  • Ability to read production orders on tray cards
  • Determine if the food prepared is of the highest possible quality in taste and flavor. Assist in planning cooking schedules. Confirm foods are ready on time for tray service.
  • Maintain and improve standards of food storage, preparation, and services.
  • Assist in checking food supplies on food order forms
  • Pushes carts to halls or kitchen
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, hygienic methods of food preparation and storage.
  • Demonstrates competency in operating kitchen equipment.
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Moderate to heavy lifting (50-pound maximum), bending, reaching, and stooping.
Education, Licensure, and Experience:
  • Required: Current Food Handlers card (or ability to obtain one) issued by local Health Department.
  • Preferred: Prior cooking experience in a skilled nursing environment
Manager In-Training Essential Functions:
  • Manages dietary policies and processes with the assistance of the Dietitian.
  • Represent the dietary department at staff meetings and communicate pertinent information to staff.
  • Compliance verification at both State and Federal levels of participation for long-term care.
  • Adapts menu cycle to individual and Center preferences with the Dietitian.
  • Supervises procurement, ordering, receiving, and storage of food.
  • Supervises food preparation and service, including direct participation as needed.
  • Ensures all standards and requirements are met with regard to:
  1. Sanitation and Cleaning
  2. Food Service
  3. Ordering and Storage of Food and Sanitation Supplies
  4. Dietary Staff Hygiene
  5. Equipment Maintenance and Upkeep (food service and otherwise)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Center and Divisional leadership.
  • Direct communication with Center residents to obtain preferences, recommendations, etc.
  • Successful completion of a course in food service supervision which meets the standards established by the Dietary Managers Association, or a graduate of another course in food service supervision with 90 or more hours in classroom instruction with on-the-job consulting by a dietitian.
