Direct Support Specialists provide support services to people of different backgrounds living with mental illness, developmental disabilities or chemical dependency. Our professionals will partner with clients on a one on one basis and work together to help them reach their program goals. These program goals are necessary to help clients achieve independence and self-sufficiency in accordance with applicable federal and state standards, guidelines and regulations.

Expectations:

• Always conduct yourself professionally; both in character and appearance - Listen carefully and communicate respectfully and clearly with clients
• Positively reinforce behaviors in clients that aid in development
• Advocate for your client
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality
• Be punctual to all meetings and in document submission
• Portray KL&J Life Care’s mission, vision, values and goals in all client dealings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide support/mentoring to clients to assist with community and independent living activities that support program goals eg: accompany to sports games, medical appointments etc.
• Documentation of activities and client's progress
• Provide some transportation to clients with limited access to transportation.

Qualifications:

• Eligible to work in the US.
• At least 18 years
• Pass a background check
• Some customer service experience or experience working with seniors, people with developmental disabilities, mental illness or chemical dependency
• Have a high school diploma or higher
• Valid drivers license with active auto insurance and clean history
• Have a reliable form of transportation

• 20-25
• 25-30
