Job Title:

Job Summary:
The Director–Accounting is responsible for the general oversight of the assigned accounting functions including financial statement preparation and reporting, internal and external audit, overseeing financial close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field and seven (7) years of accounting experience.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: NA
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of standard accounting principles, concepts, and procedures. Supervisory skills to include organizing workflow and delegating authority. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Attention to detail with excellent accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, hire and manage team members that build upon the strong culture, core values, and working relationships of UMMC.
  • Serve as a leader who emphasizes a focus on continuous quality improvement.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards applicable to assigned work area including research and updating of policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and evaluate team member performance through review of completed work assignments.
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with Accounting, Finance, Department of Information Systems, and other functions.
  • Reconcile all assigned balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Manage the monthly close process including review of associated journal entries for assigned work area.
  • Remain up to date with industry issues and developments with may have direct impact on the department or the organization as a whole.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of accounting systems or processes when and where requested.
