Job Description

Position Summary

This position serves as a member of the Wexner Medical Center’s CIDTO’s senior leadership team. This position will provide substantial leadership to several direct reports and multitude of staff as well as guidance to the Chief Information and Digital Transformation Officer, project stakeholders, and partners on all Clinical Applications. The Leader is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of the Information and Technology (IT) service and support functions for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC). Oversees the planning and day-to-day operations of the Clinical Applications for the department and is responsible for the provision of direct services and support to users of Clinical Applications across the OSUWMC. Develops and implements Clinical Applications policies and procedures and forecasts the financial, physical, and human resource needs to meet established objectives and improve performance. Reviews appropriate quality control programs and metrics and develops in-service training and continuing education programs for all staff in the area of responsibility. Oversees the selection and utilization of outside services and manages vendor relationships for related technologies. Responsible for the overall budget development, budget performance, and financial compliance with appropriate business practices.


The Leader will collaborate with key business partners, the OSU Wexner Medical Center Chief Information Officer, the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and the Chief Data & Integrations Officer (CDIO) to optimize Administrative Systems across the University and Medical Center. The role will also partner closely with our Chief Health Information Officer (CHIO). Additionally, the Leader will work with the CTO and CDIO to ensure the development and management of data repositories and an integrated enterprise data warehouse, decision support applications enabling data users to access timely critical information to support strategic and tactical decision-making. In campus-wide collaboration with IT and business leaders, the Leader will drive the definition and adoption of Application and Data Management strategies to align process and practice with the Strategic Plan. The Leader is responsible for leadership, development, and implementation of related plans and the assessment of progress and outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Health Care, Computer Science or related discipline and 12 years of experience in application development and implementation including previous leadership and management roles. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including an ability to distill information for executives: Strategic thinking and analytical skills with ability to combine broad technical, business, and political factors; Leadership and results orientation; Significant knowledge and experience in ITIL process management or other similar methodologies.
