Job Description

G&S Services Company is a 50+ year old, Colorado-based, family-owned business in the retail fuel and convivence business. We are looking for a Director of Finance and Accounting, based out of our home office in Centennial. Great opportunity for career growth and advancement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all accounting functions, including general ledger, monthly reconciliations, and monthly closing process ensuring that reporting and financial statements comply with Financial Policies and Procedures
  • Maintain, update, and document accounting policies and procedures
  • Assist President with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis to inform strategic decisions
  • Update and manage asset tracking, including cost and depreciation, for use in financial statements
  • Manage external banking, audit, tax and other relevant advisory relationships
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations
  • Prepare, review, and verify a variety of financial documents to meet internal deadlines, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  • Review accounting entries for financial activities, including correcting or adjusting entries as necessary
  • Develop and lead the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis function to operate at a high level of accuracy and efficiency while identifying and mitigating risk
  • Design, implement, and oversee company bonus structure plans


Oversight of Accounts Payable, Receivable, and Data Entry:

  • Supervise the Accounts Payable Specialist and Data Entry Specialist.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payables and receivables.
  • Monitor cash flow, manage vendor relationships, and ensure timely payments.


Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure all financial operations adhere to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, annual reports


Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the company’s financial stability and success.


Qualifications:

  • Multi-site Retail and/or Convenience Store/Automotive repair experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Advanced understanding of financial principles, budgeting, and accounting practices.
  • Tax Reporting – sales tax, 1099 issuance, etc.
  • End of month closing for retail, P&L compilation and reporting
  • Proficiency in Unix/AS-400 accounting system and accounting software programs
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Skilled in use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
