JOB SUMMARY

This position contributes to Sanctuary success by supervising and directing the financial activities of the resort, safeguarding the assets, and preparing all financial reports in accordance with accepted accounting principles. This individual serves as a financial advisor to resort management and ownership. The Director of Finance is expected to be a strong leader and maintain the highest standards of service, ethics, and effort and set the example for Sanctuary's culture. A focus on living the Sanctuary Commitments and promise to Care Enough to do it Well is critical to the success of this position as a heart of the house community member.

JOB FUNCTIONS _____________

Note: the following duties and responsibilities are not all-inclusive.

  • Analyze financial data of operations – and advise/assist Management in maintaining an efficient operation.
  • Oversee and direct property management functions for Casita owner participation for room rental revenues.
  • Prepare, review, and present the Monthly Report of the entity.
  • Oversee/direct all billing and collection of charges from resort guests, members and Casita owners.
  • Monitor and approve all expenses of the resort.
  • Prepare financial statements, forecasts and budgets for the entity as required.
  • Oversee and direct financial functions of the Casas.
  • Oversee all contracts and legal agreements, and ensure maintenance and compliance of all licenses, permits, insurance and contracts.
  • Prepare information for annual audit of the entity, the association, and the 401(k) plan and oversee audit process and directly interact with outside auditors.
  • Ensure timely remittance of all financial, tax and regulatory obligations.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial covenants.
  • Establish and audit all internal financial controls, including purchasing, cash handling and disbursements, inventories and resort equipment.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that enables getting along with guests, vendors, co-workers, and management.
  • Ensure strong communication and an excellent working relationship with ownership.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization policies and applicable law.
  • Hire, train and supervise Accounting Department and Purchasing Department including coaching, counseling, and discipline.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities asked by the Managing Director, the CFO of the Management Company, and ownership.

  • Knowledge of business law, federal, state and local taxes. Also, Department of Labor regulations.
  • Knowledge of departmental operations a must.
  • Knowledge of insurance, employee benefits, claims and liability.
  • Must maintain highest ethical standards – possessing integrity, honesty, care and fair mindedness.
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a computer.
  • Maintain a high level of work quality and quantity per resort standards.
  • Promote excellent guest relations while living the Sanctuary Commitments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

High School Diploma/G.E.D. Equivalent

Four-year bachelors’ degree in Accounting is required

Related Work Experience

Six to eight years of relevant experience preferred.

Required Knowledge

Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and be familiar with P.M.S. and P.O.S. operations. Knowledge of Opera, Micros 3700, Microsoft Exchange, and various Microsoft operating systems is highly recommended
