Avera is currently seeking a highly motivated Director of Logistics with experience in Supply Chain or Logistical Experience

Job Summary

The director of logistics is responsible for the development of Avera’s overall courier and logistical strategy, while integrating and collaborating with internal and external partners of Avera, by providing leadership and guidance to Avera’s core courier operations that are the essential to many core services provided by Avera. As well as contracted courier services that Avera provides to it’s partners. This position also oversees and directs external third party carriers that service the Avera system, including freight management services, optimizing inbound logistics, focusing on cost saving solutions, maintaining a high level of service to Avera facilities and partners.

This position is also responsible for the development Avera’s fleet management program and associated travel management programs. While providing guidance, direction and collaboration with other internal Avera departments to ensure compliance to vehicle insurance requirements, state and federal laws, oversight of the purchase of fleet vehicles and oversee Avera’s fleet structure and associated costs, to ensure safe usage of vehicles, reduction of vehicle repair services and assist in the development of other travel policies and procedures. This position will develop and maintain the relationships with our external partners to ensure, these programs are optimized for the most cost effective solution for Avera while still maintaining high quality and outcome standards.

This director of logistics will represent Avera Health’s supply chain and serve as a subject matter expert who maintains ownership of all logistics, transportation and fleet functions of the system, which are necessary to achieve superior customer service. This role will establish, direct, participate and support strategic initiatives in the areas of cost reductions, process improvement and quality improvement initiatives. Success of this position requires working efficiently and effectively while collaborating closely with the internal partners within Avera and all Avera Supply Chain functional areas to ensure the timely delivery of quality goods and equipment at competitive prices.

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in business management, engineering, supply chain management, logistics, hospital administration, finance or related field or related years of experience required. Advanced degree preferred.
• 5-7 years supply chain or logistical experience preferred.
• Combination of education/experience is acceptable.
