Position Summary: Responsible for all aspects of ACCEPTs special education programs and providing innovative programs and services to meet students and member districts evolving needs.Qualifications Required: Masters degree in Educational Leadership or a related fieldSpecial Education Administrator licensureSuccessful experience as a special education leaderCollaborative leadership styleExcellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and facilitation skillsCurrent knowledge of education research, issues and trendsExtensive knowledge of moderate/severe disabilitiesExperience with teacher supervision and evaluation Knowledge of federal and state regulations Skills in grant writing, budget development and oversightAbility to function independently, take initiative, promote staff and student morale and exercise a high degree of professional judgment.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Executive Director may find appropriate and in conformity with state and federal requirements.Qualifications Desired: EdD/PhD in a related fieldEssential Responsibilities: Coordinate referral, intake, placement and termination procedures for all students.Identify and develop new programs and make recommendations for changes.Provide oversight of ACCEPT programs and services (Pre-K to 22 special education, clinical and counseling and other related services)Case management with district personnel for students in ACCEPT programs.Provide oversight of the coordination of Team meeting processWork with staff to ensure appropriate home/school communication and maintain communication with parents of students as neededOversee overall operation of classrooms, including communication with building principals, transportation schedule, inclusion opportunities, parent communication, therapy services, materials and supplies, etc.Work with staff to develop curriculum aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum FrameworksWork with staff to develop appropriate Alternative Assessment strategiesProvide information and data as requested by the Executive DirectorWork with the Executive Director to seek additional sources of fundingIn collaboration with the Executive Director, plan and facilitate meetings, subcommittees and retreats.Inform the Executive Director of all significant situations, issues and concernsKeep apprised of Department of Education and other agency developments by attending pertinent meetings as well as developing and maintaining interagency cooperation to assist in continued quality programming for Collaborative students and staffRecruit, interview, hire and terminate special education staffSupervise and evaluate teachers, nurses, therapists, and make recommendations regarding staffing patterns.Ensure that teachers evaluate their staff annuallyOversee staff development of professional development plans; plans professional development programs and provides a calendar of coordinated, cohesive professional development for ACCEPT professional staff and paraprofessionals; organizes and leads program staff meetings to develop the collaborative culture as a professional learning community; shares information; and provides a mentoring and induction program for new staff.Assist with budget preparation, including personnel, equipment and suppliesAssist with ordering and management of inventory of necessary equipment, instructional materials, and suppliesProvide the Business Office with enrollment and tuition billing informationAssist with grant writingNon-Essential Responsibilities: Other related duties as assigned by the Executive DirectorSuccess Factors/Job Competencies: Compassion and desire to work with children with special needsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsPositive and proactive attitude Great attention to detail and accuracyCommitment to company mission and valuesStrong team playerPhysical Demands and Work Environment: Work Environment: The employee will be working in a normal school environment with an acceptable level of noise; travel between Collaborative locations and occasional off-site meetings is required
