Job Description

Description of the Role:
The Dishwasher position at The Sheraton Palo Alto entails the crucial responsibility of upholding the cleanliness standards for all hotel china, silverware, and cookware. This role contributes to the smooth operations of the Food and Beverage outlets and banquet operations across three hotels: Sheraton, Westin, and Clement. Additionally, the Dishwasher is responsible for receiving and storing food deliveries, as well as the overall cleaning of the kitchen and storage areas. During busy hours, the Dishwasher must ensure an ample supply of clean dishes, glasses, and utensils. Furthermore, they will assist with prep-work and fulfill cafeteria attendant duties as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect used kitchenware from dining and/or kitchen areas.
  • Thoroughly wash and clean all hotel china, silverware, and cookware.
  • Appropriately store clean dishes, glasses, and cookware.
  • Maintain a sufficient quantity of clean dishes, glasses, and utensils during peak hours.
  • Maintain stock of cleaning supplies and promptly request more when needed.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen area before completing the shift, including refrigerators, cooking equipment, exhaust hoods, filters, walls, stairs, floor mats, and floors.
  • Keep freezers and storage areas orderly and clean.
  • Dispose of garbage, recyclables, and food compost in the appropriate bins.
  • Assemble, maintain, and dismantle dishwashing machines and racks, reporting any technical issues.
  • Participate in cleaning and sanitizing projects.
  • Assist with food preparation when necessary.
  • Act as a cafeteria attendant, ensuring the cafeteria is stocked with food and utensils, and maintaining its cleanliness.
  • Assist with the closing of the kitchen area in any one or multiple hotels during the shift.
  • Exemplify brand standards, behaviors, hallmarks, and mandates.
  • Promote hotel services, facilities, and anticipate guest needs to enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Adhere to all Food Safety Standards.
  • Follow emergency and safety guidelines to maintain a safe and secure environment for guests, associates, and visitors.

Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of English.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged standing/walking for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to navigate the hotel, including stairs, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs., as well as pushing/pulling up to 200 lbs.
