Job Description

KVC Kansas represents one of the strongest and broadest child welfare and behavioral healthcare continuums in the nation. We are responsible for the care of all children who are served by the Kansas Department for Children and Families in the Kansas City Metro and East Regions. KVC is seeking a Youth Care Transporter to provide transportation for children in foster care to family visitations and various appointments. In this position, schedules may vary from week to week and can include early morning or late-night drives. Because schedules depend solely on the needs of the child, applicants must be available to work extended hours, including some weekends and short notices.

Position open in the Manhattan area

***There is a $2000 Sign on Bonus associated with this position that applies only to External Candidates***

Although KVC serves children in multiple states, most transports will be within the child’s home area and back within the same day. One-way transports may consist of several hundred miles to a child’s home area and then back in the same day. This position does include a company fleet vehicle for business related travel and transports only. Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, clear driving record and the ability to document client behaviors/incidents. Basic to intermediate computer and typing skills required.

The duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:

  • Ensure the timely pick up of children entering foster care
  • Provide a safe environment for children while in transit
  • Provide on-time arrival for all transports
  • Monitor and document child’s behavior and activities while in transit
  • Ensure confidentiality
  • Exhibit a high level of courtesy and professionalism
  • Work effectively with co-workers in all KVC departments as well as external clients/customers
  • Implement and follow all agency and department policies and procedures
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Maintain/complete all required forms and written reports
  • Assist in the transfer of information and materials throughout the agency
  • Attend required trainings
  • Participate in staff meetings and other department functions
  • Serve as a mandated reporter of suspected abuse/neglect

Education Required

High School or better.

Experience Required

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Driving record acceptable per 'KVC's Insurance Standards' must be maintained
  • Successfully pass the Department of Transportation's health assessment
