Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide personalized care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Responsibilities:
- Provide daily living assistance, including personal care, medication management, and meal preparation.
- Assist with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Promote independence and self-advocacy by supporting individuals in their daily routines and choices.
- Monitor and report any changes in the individual's physical or emotional condition, including any signs of pain or distress.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the individual receives the highest level of care and support.
- Implement individualized care plans, including strategies for managing challenging behaviors.
- Provide a supportive and engaging environment for individuals with dementia, utilizing techniques such as reminiscence therapy and validation.
- Participate in in-service training and education to enhance knowledge and skills in areas such as CPR and first aid.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to all safety protocols and infection control procedures.
- Document all interactions and observations in a timely and accurate manner.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia, or other special needs preferred.
- Ability to lift, transfer, or move individuals with varying physical abilities.
- CPR certification required.
- Experience with patient monitoring and observation techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with home health and memory care settings.
