JOB TITLE: Ecommerce Associate
LOCATION: North Kingstown, RI
HOURS: 3rd Shift

The E-Commerce Stacker role within the Distribution Center (“DC”) at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) is responsible for the accurate, efficient, and timely processing of customer outbound and return orders for OSJL’s E-commerce channel. This role is also responsible for performing merchandise put-a-ways, replenishment, pull combine, transfers, and consolidations in a manner that meets established standards in safety, quality, and productivity. This role reports to the Senior Manager, E-Commerce within the DC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Physically pick customer orders within the DC through several different processes or order types including, but not limited to, zone, reserve, and reserve splitting.
  • Move pallets of freight containing orders, consolidate orders onto pallets as necessary, and wrap full shipments so they can be run to the shipping lanes.
  • Build customer orders by sorting merchandise, packing merchandise into boxes or bags, and ensuring goods are scanned to order. Stage orders by store in accordance with delivery timelines.
  • Transport store pallets of customer merchandise to shipping and wrap machines.
  • Count and verify bin locations and stock keeping units (“SKU”) via a cycle count process as needed.
  • Help and assist fellow associates with “team lift” on heavy items.
  • Escalate any SKU discrepancies, such as mislabeling issues or damaged goods, to management.
  • Support the Buy Online, Ship to Store (“BOSS”) Return to Warehouse (“BRTW”) process, or returns process, by verifying the condition of the returned merchandise and processing the goods either to stock for resale or through the damaged goods process.
  • Maintain and track customer order and in-store dates to ensure that orders are fulfilled in a timely fashion.
  • Inspect all goods against the customer order to confirm that the orders are picked properly and that the goods are in pristine condition.
  • Use DC machinery, including, but not limited to, the stockpilers, pallet jack, and pump jack, to support the picking, sorting and staging process.
  • Inspect and sign out equipment on a daily basis.
  • Work in compliance with Company-established standard operating procedures, productivity standards, and OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain a neat, orderly and clean work area.
Successful candidates will have:
  • Attention to detail and results oriented.
  • Ability to learn to use a RF scanner.
  • Ability to operate powered industrial equipment and obtain any applicable license.
  • Ability to meet area productivity, quality, safety, housekeeping, and attendance standards.
  • Basic math and English reading skills, legible handwriting, and good verbal and written communication skills; bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Effective Communicator: You possess strong communication skills and have the ability to build and maintain a culture of trust and respect.
  • Team Oriented: You are capable of embracing the ideas of others (even if they conflict with your own) for the sake of the Company. You commit time, focus, and energy to develop future OSJL leaders by motivating them around a common purpose and vision.

  • Customer Focused: You understand the importance of building a good impression with the end consumer and place an emphasis on executing accurate orders on time.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work primarily in a distribution center environment. Must be able to remain stationary and/or continually move for up to 10 - 12 hours per day.
  • Responsible for physical activities including using equipment, positioning self to properly complete tasks, ascending and descending to heights of 20 feet or more, moving and transporting merchandise on a frequent basis; should be able to lift and move 50 lbs of material on a regular basis.
  • The warehouse environment is characterized by temperature extremes, noise, movement of conveyors and equipment, and other conditions associated with the operation of a high volume distribution center.
