Job Description

The Student Pathways Division of the Agency of Education (AOE) is seeking an enthusiastic and mission-driven Education Coordinator II to provide statewide leadership, oversight, and support to supervisory unions and districts for education technology, computer science, and digital infrastructure. The State Education Technology Coordinator provides leadership representing the AOE in the field, with groups, and with other governmental departments and agencies, as well as by representing the Agency in national initiatives (e.g., SETDA, Student Data Privacy Consortia, etc.). This position will play a critical role in assisting the states response to addressing equity of access to technology for students and schools throughout the state, and will assist in infrastructure development, contracting, and programmatic efforts to support schools.

We are looking for a candidate who has a strong background in contracting, technological and digital infrastructure, web-based/cloud-based platforms, and the theory and application of integrating technology, digital literacy, and computer science into effective instructional practices. The successful candidate will identify statewide support for supervisory unions/districts, that includes policy development, technical assistance, evaluation, program development, and advisory work as assigned. Major responsibilities include: Plan, develop, manage and organize policy and practices around use of education technology and virtual learning in Supervisory Unions and School Districts (SU/SDs) including digital learning plans. Grants and contract implementation and management related to education technology and digital literacy (e.g., write RFP/RFI, review, and oversee contract procurement processes, requests for proposals, and requests for grant applications).

Present information in public meetings, with teachers, school administrators, elected officials, and other interested parties.Represent the AOE in state, regional and national meetings, events, and profession learning opportunities on education technology. Develop reports, surveys, and plans such as the annual technology survey, public documents, digital learning plans, data summaries, and legislative reports.Serve as the AOE State E-rate Coordinator for schools.Assess performance and effectiveness of Vermonts statewide educational technology programs, including identifying emerging issues and AOE response.Provide technical assistance on education technology and computer science using student-centered learning instructional strategies within a PK-12 system. Preferred candidates will have the ability to: Foster a culture of continuous improvement to strengthen Agency performance, outcomes and services.Build consensus and support among internal and external stakeholders for key program goals and outcomes.Use data-informed decision process to develop and provide state, regional, and local professional development opportunities coordinated by the Agency.Stay abreast of national and state policies and initiatives that may impact educational technology and programs.Establish and maintain positive working relationships within and outside of the state.Monitor grant funded programs to ensure that all project requirements and standards are met.
