Job Description

Position Title: EH&S (Environmental Health & Safety) Specialist - UTS Maritime Services, LLC

Reports to: Director of Operations

Department: Administration

Industry: Maritime Repair

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Participate in pre-planning Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) with production management and field crews.
  • Enforce safety policies, including advising on and facilitating employee disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Conduct and document site safety inspections, ensuring compliance with safety and health programs.
  • Identify unsafe working conditions, initiate corrective actions, and complete detailed safety audit reports.
  • Perform timely incident and root cause accident investigations, file reports, and communicate findings with management.
  • Support field crews in all aspects of safety and engage employees in safety initiatives.
  • Prepares and schedules training maritime workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
  • Monitors compliance with safety procedures. Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Manage insulation hazardous waste removal to Satellite accumulation areas (SAA) and fill out appropriate forms.
  • Manage Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) project reporting

Qualification/Requirements:

  • Must currently reside in Oahu, HI
  • Musty have OSHA 30-hour maritime course
  • Ability to adapt to different work scenarios and personalities
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal & written
  • High School Diploma required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook.

Work Environment, and Work Hours:

  • 80% field construction site work and 20% office environment.
  • Work in all weather conditions, including muddy, slippery, and icy conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work on uneven ground, and drive short to long distances.
  • Office work involves sitting, computer use, repetitive typing, bending, twisting, and light lifting.
  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 6:00am – 3:00pm.
