Job Description


AECOM is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to join our Billings, Montana Environmental Remediation team. We are seeking candidates who will be able to immediately contribute to the successful delivery of projects and promote growth in existing and new markets, with an emphasis in supporting Rail and Oil & Gas clients. This full-time position within our Environmental group will manage and coordinate environmental projects related to environmental assessment, remediation, waste management, permit and environmental compliance, and wastewater treatment operations. This position will engage with the client(s), regulatory agencies and support growth and focus on expanding services, with an emphasis on Tail, but supporting other industrial clients. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate project experience, technical knowledge, require a strong focus on health and safety, be detailed orientated, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently, and will be capable of working collaboratively in a high-performance team. This position is available for an Office/Remote Hybrid role for the ideal candidate.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Managing scope, schedule, and budget for mid to large-sized environmental projects
  • Building strong client relationships
  • Client and regulatory correspondence
  • Technical report writing and review
  • Health and safety stewardship, including local field visits and tracking
  • Analyzes and applies solutions to atypical and/or semi-complex and challenging issues within area of expertise
  • Preparing cost estimates and proposals
  • Working effectively with project teams, clients, and other stakeholders
  • Coordinating work schedules with AECOM staff, subcontractors, clients and other stakeholders
  • Responsible for quality control of tasks
  • May manage and/or mentor project staff in support of projects and tasks
  • Will require some regional travel for project work, and client meetings
  • Perform and/or coordinate inspections (related to SPCC, SWPPP, RCRA) or other environmental compliance obligations at various locations across the territory.
  • Keep well organized files and documentation to meet regulatory requirements, including permitting.
  • Performs a variety of tasks in support of project staff.
  • May gather and maintain specified records of scientific data, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections at client sites.
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders and staff regarding schedules and task requirements.
  • Keep well organized files and documentation to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Performs a variety of tasks in support of project delivery.
  • Participate in other environment-related projects and tasks as required, including, but not limited to, oil and gas and client WWTP operations, often directing staff, as necessary.
  • Intimate knowledge of environmental regulations, practices, and procedures; recognizes differences or changes that would indicate the need for attention.
  • Receives and maintains required safety and environmental training including, but not limited to, OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER Training with annual 8-hr refresher, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), client-specific training, and regulatory specific training.


Qualifications


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology or Engineering, or closely related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • 2 years of Previous project management experience.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check.
  • Must be able to successfully complete initial and random screening requirements including drug, breathalyzer, urine and/or hair test.
  • Valid US Driver’s License to operate an AECOM provided vehicle for travel to various project site(s) to support project task(s) assignments and scope of work. For positions with driving responsibilities, Motor Vehicle Records are reviewed as part of AECOM’s background check process to ensure compliance with the Company’s driving standards.
  • Candidate must be able to meet medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical exam.
  • Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment, including but not limited to gloves, safety glasses/goggles, safety shoes/boots, hard hat, flame resistant clothing and hearing protection while on project sites or as required by project task/work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management experience with verifiable experience managing or leading environmental projects
  • 8+ years of experience in environmental consulting
  • Master’s Degree is a plus
  • Experience managing and scheduling projects with environmental compliance related scope and/or wastewater operations, maintenance and inspection.
  • Experience working with Montana, Wyoming, Idaho or other regional environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Experience communicating and coordinating field work with client, staff, subcontractors and vendors.
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training
  • RCRA/DOT Hazardous Management Training
  • Professional Licenses or Certifications
