ABOUT THE ROLE:

Provides daily cleaning and sanitizing in-patient and assigned facility areas. Provides collection, removal and transport of trash and soiled linen. Provides floor care for various types of flooring and performs light duty maintenance work. Completes work in accordance with Department and Medical Center policies, procedures, and infection control guidelines.

YOUR ROLE WOULD ENCOMPASS:

  • Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
  • Uses quality improvement processes, programs or outcome to help improve department operations.
  • Responsible for cleanliness of assigned areas, care of assigned tools and materials, economical use of all soaps, cleansers, disinfectants and janitorial supplies.
  • Removes trash and soiled linen.
  • Sets up, cleans, and returns required cleaning cart and equipment.
  • Monitors, removes and replaces sharps containers.
  • Observes patient’s privacy and treats patients with respect.
  • Recognizes safety hazards and reports any concerns to the maintenance staff or charge nurse depending on the specific situation.
  • Respectful of nursing personnel and physicians when cleaning patient rooms.
  • Responsible for providing a safe, pleasant environment for patients, hospital staff and visitors.
  • Safely operates required equipment.
  • Stocks shelves and monitors linen inventory.
  • Responds to emergency situations according to Medical Center and Department policies.
  • Uses proper body mechanics; reports all safety concerns; wears appropriate protective equipment.
  • Power scrubs/buffs floors and shampoos carpeted areas as needed.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

YOUR EXPERIENCE INCLUDES (PROVEN PERFORMANCE IN):

  • 18 years of age or older – required
  • Graduation from a high school or equivalent – preferred
  • Previous custodial, janitor or cleaning experience – desired

Location: Bryan Health · Environmental Services
Schedule: Part-time, Evening shift, M-F 5p-9p (Schedule is Flexible)
