Description:

GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:

Administers exercise sessions safely to obtain reliable and valid data. Provides exercise-related education to patients and the community. Responsible for all exercise science standards needed to meet regulatory and credentialing requirements. Prepares exercise lab for administration of exercises, prepares patients for exercise sessions, records data and communicates data to physician and Regional Manager as necessary.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or Exercise Physiology; master's degree preferred. Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.

Clinical teaching experience preferred. Experienced in exercise programming, stress reduction, and nutrition preferred. Any experience in taking blood pressures, pulses, EKG interpretation, pulse oximetry, and/or oxygen administration preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. Assists with and monitors exercise prescription development for rehabilitation patients, recommends changes to exercise therapy to director prior to implementation.

Revenue Management: Understands and oversees department charges, chargemaster process, charge capture processes and has the ability to execute charge capture and reconciliation processes. Ensures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients. Performs pulse oximetry and blood pressure measurements and documents as required.

Recognizes symptom changes/signs of problems and know the appropriate medical response and processes. Initiates first responder care. Assists with required patient education. Assists program coordinator with program compliance, benchmarking and performance improvement. Actively participates in program certification.

Monitors adherence to organizational and national regulatory guidelines for rehab program. Cleans exercise and oximetry equipment as outlined in procedure manual. Completes visit notify, task entry and task completion in PowerChart. Ability to deal with a broad range of people. Possesses good organizational and communication skills. Possess clinical knowledge of disease management programming multiple co-morbidities.
