Job Title: Food Expeditor

Department: Back of House

Reports To: General Manager

Summary: A Food Expeditor acts as a liaison between kitchen staff, waitstaff and management which ensures a steady workflow of information. An Expeditor is responsible for facilitating kitchen orders, maintaining quality control and monitoring food safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organizes ticket orders to help kitchen staff prioritize outgoing meals
  • Ensures orders are not lost, forgotten or delayed
  • Assists in final preparation of dishes by adding garnishes and/or condiments
  • Checks dishes before delivery for accuracy, presentation and temperature
  • Assists waitstaff in delivering orders to guests
  • Transfers important information between kitchen and waitstaff
  • Stores food in designated areas properly by sorting, labeling and dating
  • Cleans work areas, sinks, counters, display, prep tables and other equipment
  • Empties wastebaskets and removes trash
  • Inventories supplies and equipment to ensure adequate levels
  • Keeps kitchen in clean and orderly condition according to health department regulation

Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time with or without reasonable accomodations
  • Food preparation experience or training preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Reading and writing abilities
