Job Title: Food Expeditor
Department: Back of House
Reports To: General Manager
Summary: A Food Expeditor acts as a liaison between kitchen staff, waitstaff and management which ensures a steady workflow of information. An Expeditor is responsible for facilitating kitchen orders, maintaining quality control and monitoring food safety.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organizes ticket orders to help kitchen staff prioritize outgoing meals
- Ensures orders are not lost, forgotten or delayed
- Assists in final preparation of dishes by adding garnishes and/or condiments
- Checks dishes before delivery for accuracy, presentation and temperature
- Assists waitstaff in delivering orders to guests
- Transfers important information between kitchen and waitstaff
- Stores food in designated areas properly by sorting, labeling and dating
- Cleans work areas, sinks, counters, display, prep tables and other equipment
- Empties wastebaskets and removes trash
- Inventories supplies and equipment to ensure adequate levels
- Keeps kitchen in clean and orderly condition according to health department regulation
Requirements:
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time with or without reasonable accomodations
- Food preparation experience or training preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Reading and writing abilities
