Job Description

GD Correctional Services, LLC is the leading Food Service provider for County Correctional. You will be working for the Food Service as a Contract Employee for the Prison Department. This is a 365 day a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day Facility, so nights, weekends and holidays are required.

Immediate work (all shifts) is available at our account located within the Philadelphia Department of Prison on State Road in Philadelphia, PA 19136.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under general supervision, performs skilled duties in the preparation and service of food. This is manual work requiring efficient performance of food service tasks which follow GD policies. Must maintain all GD, State and Federal food handling, safety and sanitation standards. Must adhere to the highest standards of customer service. Must adhere to the uniform standards at all times. Must be able to assume the duties of all positions within the same pay grade and below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques
  • Knowledge of health/sanitation aspects of food handling and preparation
  • Ability to learn, use, and care for equipment used in food preparation and service
  • Ability to maintain personal cleanliness
  • Ability to complete and retain required training
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates, and staff
  • All other duties as assigned by management

Must be able to obtain and maintain the Security Clearance required by the Philadelphia Department of Prisons. Background FREE of criminal history of any kind including not having any outstanding unpaid Fines, Taxes, Parking and Moving Violations etc.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 12 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
