SUMMARY: 

The General Manager oversees and is responsible for the operations of a collision repair shop, which includes managing staff, coordinating repair jobs, maintaining quality standards, interacting with customers, and ensuring efficient workflow. The role involves budgeting, safety compliance, staff development, and vendor relations. The General Manager plays a vital role in delivering top-notch autobody repair services while achieving financial goals and maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Forecasts goals and objectives for the department and strives to meet them. 
  • Assumes full responsibility for center profit and loss (P&L) management, including following cash control and security procedures, managing supply and materials costs, managing staffing and compensation, and facilitating materials and supply ordering and management. 
  • Provides leadership, management, and oversight to all center personnel, including hiring, training, developing, coaching, and promoting team members, as well as managing compensation and discipline. 
  • Responsible for meeting monthly operating plan for the body shop. 
  • Ensures all personnel and team members understand all key performance indicators (KPI’s) and are given the proper training and support to meet or exceed all KPI’s consistently. 
  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with suppliers, vendors, and insurance adjusters to obtain necessary materials, services, and referral business.
  • Interact with customers, addressing concerns, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction while also aiding in the recovery of dissatisfactory NPS scores.
  • Monitors technicians' daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records. 
  • Gives fair estimates on costs and time required for bodywork. 
  • Follows up on vendor service and performance. 
  • Monitors progress and completion of vehicles in the shop, ensuring that proper repair and safety procedures are followed. 
  • Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality. 
  • Checks quality of completed work. 
  • Handles customer complaints immediately with a great sense of urgency. 
  • Prepares final billing for completed repair orders. 
  • Controls accounts receivables for body repair work. 
  • Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc. and provides necessary training. 
  • Ensures that proper safety equipment is available and being used properly. 
  • Facilitates and/or conducts technical training and sends employees to appropriate training schools as needed. 
  • Monitors the maintenance of paint booths, frame straightening equipment, and other large, fixed assets to ensure long-term usage and value. 
  • Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommends purchases. 
  • Attends managers' meetings. 
  • Maintains professional appearance. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High school degree or equivalent experience required 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required 
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Experience with CCC is highly desirable
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in management roles among the collision repair, automotive management, or a related field
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to provide outstanding support and assistance to customers, ensuring their needs are met or exceeded in a professional manner and satisfying manner
  • Possess strategic thinking abilities, financial acumen, and the capacity to lead and motivate teams
  • Proficient in budgeting, cost control, and financial management
  • Skilled problem solver at identifying issues, finding solutions, and making decisions under pressure
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities to effectively supervise staff and coordinate operations
  • Possess technical knowledge of collision repair processes, industry standards, and repair techniques
  • Ability to manage workflow, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in the collision repair industry
  • Familiar with computerized estimating systems, repair management software, and basic office applications

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
