Job Description:
ASRC Federal NetCentric Technology, LLC is seeking a Grounds Technician to support our customer located at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Job Summary:
The Grounds Technician maintains grounds of industrial, commercial or public property such as but not limited to: improved (landscaped and irrigated) grounds such as parks, athletic fields, and surrounding building exteriors; semi-improved and xeriscape grounds typically surrounding and between facilities, and unimproved areas in the more remote locations of the base.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensures shop objectives and all tasks associated with Grounds Maintenance are accomplished in accordance with contractual requirements. Such tasks include but are not limited to:
  • Cut grass, using walking-type or riding mowers.
  • Trim hedges and edges around walks, flowerbeds, and wells, using hedge trimmers, clippers, and edging tools.
  • Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears and other hand tools.
  • Spray lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer and/or insecticide.
  • Maintain and repair fencing to include, but not limited to, chain link and barbed wire.
  • Perform storm drainage cleanup and tumbleweed removal.
  • Shovel and dirt work when necessary.
  • Plant trees, shrubs, flowers, and other foliage.
  • Perform snow and ice removal operations to support the requirements of the snow removal plan.
  • Conduct salting and sanding of parking lots and sidewalks as needed.
  • Assist in deploying security measures to include barrier (cable, water, star, and jersey), cones, and other traffic control equipment.
  • Drive gasoline or diesel-powered tractor to move materials, draw implements, tow trailers, pull out objects embedded in the ground, or pull cable of which to raise, lower or load heavy material or equipment.
  • Adjust tractor equipment for proper operation, lubricate and make minor repairs such as tightening bolts, replacing washers, cotter pins, and screws.
  • Plan and execute small scale landscaping operations.
  • Assist with special event set-ups and teardowns to include maintaining distinguished visitor (DV) routes to contractual standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Minimum education level of high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Three (3) to Six (6) months of prior grounds experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with hands and knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and practices used in the field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved.
  • Demonstrated skill in the care and use of the tools and equipment in the trades involved.
  • Experienced and trained to fasten attachments onto graders, plows, rollers, mowers, backhoes, seeders, and disc harrows to tractors.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
  • Must have proficient English oral and written communication skills sufficient to effectively communicate with employees, management, and customers.
  • Must be a US citizen and currently possess or be able to obtain/maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid US driver's license.
  • Be able to pass a drug screen.
  • Have ability to perform repetitive physical tasks involving lifting at least 50 lbs.
  • Be committed to providing for and maintaining a safe working environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • General knowledge of irrigation and functions regarding water-delivery and backflow prevention.
  • Experience working in a government environment.
