Pay range is $18-21.38 per hour, depending on experience


Full Time Schedule: Monday-Friday from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, with a rotating on call schedule


Under direct supervision, the Groundskeeper performs unskilled to semi-skilled work in the proper maintenance of the community grounds and equipment used to maintain a manicured appearance. Works involves operating medium to light machinery and using hand tools to prune trees, mow and edge lawns, remove debris and maintain plantings.  The Groundskeeper completes work within scheduled time frame, according to budget, and priorities set by the supervisor.  


Work Duties



  • According to assigned schedule performs various landscaping duties such as planting and mowing grass, planting and trimming hedges and shrubbery, pruning trees, trimming weeds, maintaining flower beds, raking leaves, mulching using tractors, power lawn mowers, string trimmers and various hand tools;

  • Sprays insecticide or herbicides as needed;

  • Applies fertilizer as needed;

  • Makes regular inspections of assigned areas daily for cleanliness; remove limbs, rake leaves, debris, and litter, and other hazards including those created by environmental conditions ensuring that grounds are properly maintained;

  • Monitors, maintains, and repairs irrigation system;

  • Maintain the community ponds, fountains and waterfalls as dictated by community surroundings;

  • Operate and repair irrigation system to meet landscaping demands;

  • Monitor, maintain, and repair irrigation systems;

  • Work at height with ladders, lifts, and rooftop;

  • Work in inclement weather (heat, rain, snow, etc.);

  • Operate landscaping equipment ensures that equipment is properly maintained and reports malfunction or repair needs;

  • Perform repairs to appliances and toilets, fix minor electrical issues, painting rooms and building's exterior;

  • Preform minor adjustments on HVAC systems, room furniture, fixtures and other items in the community;

  • Exhibit versatility to repair faulty appliances and toilets, fix minor electrical issues, remodel rooms, and handle numerous other tasks;

  • Performs other related work as required.


Minimum Requirements



  • High school diploma or equivalent;

  • Prior experience as a handyman preferred; and

  • Prior experience in grounds keeping preferred.
